Guilt-Free French Toast with Plant-Based Option (High-Protein and Sugar-Free!)

Ingredients (makes 1 serve):

  • 1 scoop Clean Nutrition Whey Protein powder (Vanilla🍦)
  • 1 large egg white (33g)
  • 1 whole egg (60g)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 slices of soft bread (we used Ploughman’s Soy & Linseed - soft and high in protein!)
  • Butter or oil spray for the pan
  • Optional - 1/2 cup (100g) mixed berries and Nothing Naughty Fibre Syrup

👉 Pro Tip: To make this recipe plant-based, swap out the protein for Clean Nutrition Fava Bean or Pea Protein Powder, and swap the eggs & egg whites out for the same weight in flax eggs or almond milk with a teaspoon of flour to thicken!)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the egg, egg whites, protein powder and vanilla essence in a deep bowl - ideally using a stick blender as it helps to break up the protein powder.
  2. Place slices of bread in the mixture, making sure to completely submerge so they soak it up.
  3. Heat a fry pan to medium heat, and coat with cooking spray.
  4. Fry each slice of bread for a minute or two each side, stack on a small plate.
  5. Optional: cook up berries for a minute in the hot pan and spoon on top, drizzle with Nothing Naughty Fibre Syrup to serve!
